EASTBOUNRE 2ND XV 16 - 10 LEWES 2ND XV – 15/09/07
Eastbourne made a winning start to the Sussex Reserve League against old foes Lewes with an excellent team performance.
In the first half Eastbourne made light work of the Lewes pack, winning Scrums against the head and good turnover ball. Unfortunately they couldn’t turn pressure into points allowing Lewes two unconverted tries. Skipper Neil Pysden converting a penalty to stay with in touching distance at half time, 3-10.
Eastbourne came out from half time with all cylinders firing. A break from the backs down the right saw Mayo slide in for their first try. Shortly after Eastbourne gained a penalty 30 yards out, converted by Pysden. With five to go Toby Spiers drove over for his debut try and Eastbourne’s second making the score at full time 16-10.
A great pack performance, especially Rob Light and Ben Gaunlet with MOM going to a deserved Rob Cutler.
