Eastbourne Gold’s 29 v Seaford 5

Eastbourne Gold’s hosted local rivals Seaford last weekend hoping to avenge the defeat they suffered earlier in the season.

With Eastbourne missing some of their key players this was always going to be a tough game. However it was Eastbourne who started well and scored the opening try of the game thanks to Jamie Keen who was having a typically rampaging game.

Seaford came straight back at Eastbourne after the restart, running the ball in all areas of the pitch and it wasn’t long before they scored and levelled the scores at 5-5. It was this score that really shook the Eastbourne team into gear. The Eastbourne forwards started to dominate the game with some superb of loading allowing the backs to penetrate the Seaford defence. Kris Watts scored Eastbourne’s second try of the afternoon turning the Seaford defence inside out and continuing his try scoring form.

The second half was all Eastbourne with the both the forwards and backs playing particularly well. It was Matthew Baldwin who scored the first try of the second half, himself having a good game at centre. With confidence now high the Eastbourne team surged forward and Steve Martin to score the second try of the half and then Steve Bridger touching down under the posts capping a good afternoon for the Gold’s, the final score being 29-5 to Eastbourne.
