East Grinstead (20) v Eastbourne (5)

u13’s  LEAGUE (04/11/2007).

An early season clash between the two protagonists had ended with a one point difference, and it was with great hope that the league encounter at East Grinstead could be as close. A strong defence is needed to win games, but when you only seek to defend and not to attack a win is very unlikely and such was the case in Eastbourne u13’s league game. Eastbourne spent all but a few minutes of the first half in their own twenty two, a continual failure to clear to touch, and a lack of any determined forward play meant by half time Eastbourne were 15 – nil down.

A November 5th rocket was certainly needed at half time and in the second half  Eastbourne did raise their game. From the first attacking play of the game No 8 Joshua Rafferty Mc- Wall released the backs and from inside their own half following some swift passing, fly half Alexander Voss Hillier put Eastbourne on the score sheet.
Eastbourne continued to play well, allowing just one further try against them, the game finishing 20 to 5 in Grinstead’s favour. MOM JoshuaRafferty McWall.
