To compete or not to compete that is the question that Eastbourne u13’s were faced with when they met Pulborough RFC. The answer came in the first fifteen minutes by which time the hosts were trailing 15 – nil. Eastbourne are capable of a much higher standard of rugby, but their confidence evaporated in the Sunday morning sunshine.
Pulborough’s rush defence put Eastbourne under constant pressure and whilst there were many good clearances, when mistakes were made the opposition capitalised on these to score again.

The start of the second half mirrored the first with Eastbourne shadowing the opposition, rather than stopping their runs, the only real exception was Tom Pashley whose strong tackling stopped several Pulborough attacks. With seven minutes left Eastbourne finally woke up and began to play with much greater conviction, turned over ball and produced some attacking play of their own. The opposition made mistakes, showing they were not unbeatable, but it was too little too late and Eastbourne lost the day 45 –nil. Mom Tom Pashley – conviction to tackle.
