We are a modern rugby club with some very old buildings which is stopping us from getting the proper facilities to further our ambitions for our Women’s, Men’s and Youth Rugby.

Our most pressing project is the replacement of the Clubhouse roof, which through old age and vandalism has extensive holes, failing structural sections and water ingress. The Clubhouse is the heart of Eastbourne Rugby and without it we don’t have a home and no means to have rugby in Eastbourne.

We are calling on all members to share our need to improve our Club, get involved in fundraising activities to help us Fund the Fortress.

This is a really important campaign for Eastbourne Rugby Club but will also be a fun one, see below for ideas in how you can organise an event, or just look out for the events coming up and we’ll have a great time making our Club even better.

Fundraise!
If you have an idea for a fundraising event no matter how big or small, don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can help you make it happen! Contact nickypysden@hotmail.com with your ideas and we’ll help you get started.

Interested in fundraising but unsure where to begin? Here are a few suggestions to kickstart your efforts…

1. Charity Walk or Run: Get your trainers on and sign up for a 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon or ultra, each step raising money for the club.

2. Quiz Night: Host a quiz night at the club, charging an entry fee per person or team that goes to Fund the Fortress.

3. Bake Sale: Organise a bake sale either at the club, a local event or tournament, where volunteers can bake and donate goods to sell.

4. Murder Mystery Dinner Party: Host a themed dinner party where guests pay an entry fee to solve a murder mystery over a meal.

5. Auction or Raffle: Collect donated items from local businesses or individuals and hold an auction or raffle event at the club. Got something special to donate, we can arrange a one off raffle for that too!

6. Car Wash: Set up a station in the club car park and charge a fee for each car cleaned…one for the summer!

7. Craft Fair: Arrange for local craftspeople to come together and sell their goods, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the club.

8. Sports Day: Organise a traditional sports day charging entry fees for teams to participate.

9. Talent Show: Host a concert or talent show featuring local performers, charging admission fees with all proceeds going to Fund the Fortress.

10. Golf Day: Take to the green and organise a golf tournament with entry fees going to Fund the Fortress.

11. Pre-Loved Sale: Gather items no longer wanted by friends and family to sell to raise money to Fund the Fortress.

12. Sponsored Challenges: Can you take on a challenge?! Try a sponsored silence, haircut, skydive, abseil, mountain climb and collect pledges from sponsors for completing the challenge.
