Adam Molloson - 4th Team Player/Committee Member /Mini Coach and our School Liaison Officer - WoW
1. How long have you been involved at Eastbourne RFC and what different roles do you perform or volunteered for?
My son George joined the Under 7’s last September and having not played for a few (OK many many) years I then went training with the 4ths and haven’t looked back since. I am currently Under 8’s mini coach and a committee member as schools liaison officer.
2. Besides Rugby which is clearly a passion, do you have any other Hobbies or interest?
I love all sport, but I am a Level 2 coach at Bexhill Judo Club. If it weren’t for Rugby (and old age) I’d probably still be competing myself. I also used to be a season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest and at Nottingham Panthers (ice hockey). Other 4th team players would probably argue that my main passion is eating!
3. If you could change anything about the Club, what would it be and why?
A rich benefactor to help the club develop the clubhouse further.
4. What is your favourite Book and why does that stand out from others?
As an obsessive reader a difficult question: Probably A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. A very thought provoking book. Best rugby book: Confessions of a Rugby Mercenary by John Daniell- a great read about professional rugby in France.
5. Who is your favourite Rugby Player past or present and what makes the player so special?
I have two Neil Back and Brian Moore. Both started out in senior Rugby at Nottingham RFC. Neil Back played my position and was always being told he was too small for an openside, but went on to do OK. Brian Moore because of his sheer aggression and patriotism. I loved his battles with All black Sean Fitzpatrick.
6. Having been a coach and Player, what makes you continue and what do you enjoy regards to Coaching?
Seeing the youngsters progress is always rewarding. The other parents are also a great bunch so the banter is good fun-unless it relates to the coaches game Vs Teddington!!
7. Name your favourite place in Eastbourne and why?
Other than the club of course, the beach because it’s the best place to eat a double Fusciardi’s banana / honeycomb ice cream on a hot day! Bliss.
8. If you won the lottery what would be your first purchase?
I’d rent out Pomodoro Mozzerella for a night and invite loads of family and friends to celebrate with us.
9. What is your most memorable moment at Eastbourne RFC
Watching my son score his first try for Glens under 7’s last season or seeing 4th team scrum half Jerry Keen sprinting (well sort of) 40 yards down the blindside to score a try when everyone was screaming at him to pass.
10. What is your favourite animal and why?
A chicken or cow-because they both taste great when cooked on a barbie. (apologies to vegetarians)
