Eastbourne 2nd XV hosted a low on numbers Seaford Rugby Football Club 2nd XV at home, with Eastbourne lending a number of players to Seaford in order for the match to go ahead with even numbers.

Eastbourne started the game strongly, with the team following the game plan installed by the coaches from the start of the season that has so far worked well.

William Bath opened the scoring when some excellent defensive work lead to a turnover and quick handling allowed him to score after a strong run. The next two tries came from Adam “The Adonis” Nnochiri, beating players with his speed and strength.
The forwards worked relentlessly throughout, providing a solid platform from lineouts and the rucks which enabled the backline to play expansive attacking rugby.

Man of the match Ryan Shields scored the next two tries, showing great power to break through tackles and gain ground to score.
Sam Wells scored the final try before halftime after Eastbourne forwards dominated a lineout maul. Half time 38-0 to Eastbourne after Stuart Sorrell slotted a number of difficult conversions throughout the half.

During the halftime break, Eastbourne made a lot of changes with the Eastbourne players who had played for Seaford in the first half swapping to get the chance to play for their own club.

Eastbourne still managed to control the game in most aspects allowing Ryan Shields and Adam Nnochiri to both complete their hat-tricks.
With Eastbourne not letting their foot off the gas and taking the opportunity to continue to play some attacking rugby, two more tries were scored by backs Glen Smith and debutant Stuart Baker to finish the match off.

Final score Eastbourne 60-0 Seaford.

Two special mentions must go out.
Firstly, four Colts, Tom Lester, Henry Duke, Stuart Baker and Cameron Burleigh made their senior debuts and all performed exceptionally well.
Well done lads!

Secondly, a huge thank you to Seaford 2s for coming over and playing despite not having a full team. It would have been easy for them to cancel, but instead, they made sure everyone could get a run-out and they played the whole game without letting their heads drop.
We have nominated them for the “make it happen” award in the Sussex League and we thank them for all their efforts and good spirits today.

MoM: Ryan Shields
Tackle of the Day: Cameron Burleigh
